summary
The judgement of Paris is a mythological scene refering to Paris’ choice of Aphrodite. The design of the original lamp, made in Germany in the 17th century, was derived from a German 16th century gunpowder box. See Israel Museum Catalogue, The Stieglitz Collection (1987) No. 133, p. 176.
